About me? Throughout all the years that I have done the website, I have never done a page about the designer. But as I continue to do it, more and more people ask me who I am and who is my kid. Well, I guess I just took it for granted that people know who I was. I don’t want that to sound conceited, but I’m always there and seem to chat with most people at sometime or another. So i just assumed people knew me.
Anyway, just a bit about me and why I do what I do. I am a 1991 graduate of Gibbs High School. If you didn’t know, my wife Tyra and I have 4 children, James, 11; Baylor, 8; Patrick, 5; & Shelby, 1. I live in a house divided, my wife graduated from Maynardville. Please don’t hold that against her! She loves Columbia Blue now.
I had the privilege to be a captain my Senior year with Steve Cupp, whose son is a freshman on this year’s squad. I had the opportunity to be a starting member of the 1989 District 2-AA Championship team. I played middle school basketball for Coach Edmonds and was on the 1986 Knox County Championship team. I also threw shot put and discus for the Eagle Track and Field team, participating in the TSSAA State finals and AAU Junior Olympics.
I loved attending Gibbs High School during my time there. Teachers like Becky Longmire, Nancy Irwin, Rell Smith, Betty Mayfield, and Jerry Reeves, to name a few, made high school challenging, but also time of great learning. I hope that every child that enters Gibbs leaves with fond memories as I did.
Now, why I do what I do. Because I love Gibbs. I had a great experience there and I hope that by doing what I do, I can make current students and athletes experience a positive one as I had. I played at Gibbs when the only pictures taken were by the yearbook photographer. Times were different then. The resources to capture the experiences weren’t as sophisticated and prevalent as they are now. I have about 10 or 12 photos of me playing football. I cherish those and they mean the world to me. I hope that by documenting through photographs and video, current students will be able to cherish their memories for years to come.
Enough about me, WAR EAGLE!
