What ever happened to good officials?

Well, here we are, Sunday evening, a couple days removed from Friday night’s game and I’m still baffled by something that I’ve tried to not to comment on. After the game Friday, I can’t let it go anymore. My topic for the next couple of paragraphs will be officiating and the lack of quality, lack of professionalism, and the overall decline in respect that many referees display for coaching staffs.

A new post finally…..

Well it only took 5 weeks, but I finally decided to sit down and update the blog.  5 weeks into the 2009 football campaign and I get to write about something that I truly love, football. Gibbs is off to it’s best start in over 40 years. As a former Eagle, it excites me to see the current Eagles play as they have. Now don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed watching all our Eagles, but it has been very, very exciting to see the success the team is having this season.

Gibbs Sports 2008-2009 Review

School’s out, summer is upon us, but Gibbs athletics is still on my mind. I know, don’t I ever get tired of  it?!?! Well, not really. I enjoy the student-athletes, coaches and parents. I enjoy the games, I enjoy watching the practices. I just really enjoy Gibbs sports. After a few weeks away from the end of spring sports, I will take this opportunity to look back and review the 2008-2009 Gibbs sports year.

Hi there everyone. It’s Sunday evening and after a week of softball and baseball delays, it is a great accomplishment that both the baseball and softball teams are District 3-AA tournament champions. District Champions! That sounds so good and is reflective of the dedication of the coaches, players, and parents who have made each program a couple of the best in the area.

On Wednesday night I had the opportunity to attend the 2009 Lady Eagle basketball banquet. As most of you know, I have the opportunity to be close to Gibbs athletics and have attended several post season banquets. I enjoy going. I get to have a great meal, fellowship with friends, and take some great pictures. What else could a person ask for.

How will later start affect Gibbs Sports?

As most of you know, the Knox County School Superintendent has proposed a later start date for several schools in the system as a cost saving measure. With Gibbs being one of those schools, there have been several questions about how the late start would affect Gibbs athletics.
